Sarasota Humane Society’s annual Hot Dogs & Cool Cats Event

Norton Hammersley Firm News

With over 25 years of Law Practice, Sarasota Law firm Norton Hammersley has created a tradition of active involvement in charitable and civic organizations in Sarasota and throughout the Florida region. We are proud to enter our 5th year of sponsorship of the Sarasota Humane Society’s annual Hot Dogs & Cool Cats Event.

In 1951 Donald Evans lost his beloved dog which was unfortunately euthanized because the dog catcher had failed to contact him. Devastated, Mr. Evans vowed to start a Humane Society to prevent this from happening again and by 1952 The Humane Society of Sarasota County was born.

Today the HSSC is proud to be Sarasota’s largest no kill shelter of lost and abandoned pets. Every attempt is made to train, rehabilitate, reunite or re-home the animals. They are dedicated to the health and welfare of each animal in their care. The HSSC works with the community to reduce the euthanasia rates in the county and to promote responsible pet ownership. One of Norton Hammersley’s attorneys has been a HSSC board member since 2009.

The HSSC is a private, non – profit organization therefore receiving no city, state or federal funding. The HSSC relies solely on the donations of the community.
